Washington Radiology Associates, P.C. is a medical group practice specializing in the diagnosis of medical conditions, disease, and injury through magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, digital mammography, general and obstetrical ultrasound, nuclear medicine, positron emission tomography (PET/CT), general biopsy, fluoroscopy, and general x-ray. In 1948, the Chief of Radiology at Columbia Hospital for Women in Washington, D.C., Dr. Eugene McDonald, founded what eventually became Washington Radiology Associates, P.C. As other radiologists joined the practice, additional offices were opened throughout the Washington metropolitan area.

WRA's physicians are specialists in diagnostic radiology and diagnostic ultrasound. All of our radiologists are certified by the American Board of Radiology. As leaders in their fields, WRA physicians are committed to providing the highest quality patient care. We believe that the patient is the most important person in our practice and we strive to consistently demonstrate this philosophy in each interaction.

INFORMATION

HIGH TECH/HIGH TOUCH

At Washington Radiology we pride ourselves on our outstanding professional, technical, and support personnel. Our practice is composed of board-certified physicians and over 220 staff members who provide diagnostic imaging and support services to patients and their referring physicians throughout metropolitan Washington. Our technologists are highly trained professionals who are registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. The members of our staff make every effort to provide information about our services and procedures and to make each patient feel comfortable and at ease during his or her visit to our offices.

An essential component in our commitment to providing high quality care is our medical equipment. WRA continues to upgrade equipment to ensure that we remain on the leading edge in the field of medical imaging. All of our equipment is calibrated and inspected on a regular basis. Our facilities were among the first in the Washington metropolitan area to receive accreditation for providing screening mammography by the American College of Radiology (ACR) in conjunction with the American Cancer Society. WRA later became certified by the FDA under the Mammography Quality Standards Act (1992). In 1996, WRA became the first radiology practice in the nation to be accredited for general and obstetrical ultrasound by the American College of Radiology. And, in 1998, WRA's MRI Services were among the first in the nation to be accredited by the ACR.

REPORTS

Because we work in consultation with the patient's physician, WRA's medical reports are mailed or faxed directly to referring physicians. The referring physician then consults with the patient about the results. Immediate readings are provided by telephone to the referring physician if requested or if our physician determines that it is necessary.

HIPAA and WRA
