There are four types of image-guided biopsies that we perform. They are equally reliable, highly-accurate and minimally invasive (non-surgical) methods for analyzing tissue. We'll work closely with your referring provider to ensure the most effective biopsy method is selected based on your unique needs.
- Stereotactic Biopsy uses a computer and mammography or MRI guidance, to identify and take several small samples of tissue in the area that is being evaluated.
- Ultrasound Guided Biopsy uses ultrasound imaging to guide the physician while taking small samples of tissue, using a hollow needle, from the area that is being evaluated.
- Breast MRI Guided Biopsy is used to exclusively for breast biopsy.
- 3D Mammography Guided Biopsy is used when the breast tissue is best visualized on state-of-the-art 3D mammography technology.
At Washington Radiology, we're using the latest innovations in an image-guided biopsy to provide exceptionally accurate results in a comfortable and caring environment.
