Sandra J. Allison, MD


Dr. Sandra Allison received her medical degree from New York Medical College in 1996. She completed an internship in internal medicine at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in 1997, and a residency in diagnostic radiology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in 2001. Dr. Allison then completed a fellowship in ultrasound, CT and MRI, also at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, in 2002. She is board certified in diagnostic radiology. Dr. Allison specializes in ultrasound with concentrated areas of expertise in musculoskeletal, gynecologic, and vascular imaging. She brings to Washington Radiology more than ten years of experience in imaging joints and soft tissues with ultrasound, and performing ultrasound guided interventions. Prior to joining Washington Radiology, Dr. Allison was a faculty radiologist with Medstar Georgetown University Hospital for 11 years. During that time, she served as Director of the Diagnostic Radiology Residency program at Georgetown University Hospital for seven years, an Associate Professor of Radiology at Georgetown University School of Medicine for five years, and she directed the Division of Ultrasound from 2004–2013. Dr. Allison is widely published in many areas of medical imaging, particularly MSK and ultrasound. She has lectured extensively nationally and internationally in ultrasound, and is the author of numerous chapters on imaging in gynecologic, vascular and musculoskeletal ultrasound. Dr. Allison joined Washington Radiology in 2013.
